2024 HSI-NOW Annual Retreat

Purpose and Objectives

The HSI-NOW Retreat is a dynamic and enriching day designed to bring together colleagues to share insights, strategies, and best practices for enhancing the educational experiences and outcomes of Hispanic students. This retreat fosters collaboration, innovation, and professional development, providing participants with the tools and knowledge necessary to create more inclusive, supportive, serving and effective learning environments.

• Promote Student Retention and Success. Share best practices and innovative approaches to improve student experience to thrive from enrollment, retention, graduation rates, and overall success among Hispanic students at HSIs.
• Foster Collaboration and Networking. Create opportunities for HSI-NOW members to connect, collaborate, and share resources, fostering a strong network of professionals dedicated to advancing the mission of HSIs.
• Subcommittee Strategic Engagement. Fostering a culture of open dialogue, developing actionable strategies, and cooperative problem-solving, the subcommittees will drive impactful initiatives and promote sustained progress towards the HSI-NOW mission.

Launched in the Spring of 2024, the Connection Center at the Kenosha Campus is a central hub providing basic needs resources through a food pantry, G-Boutique professional clothing, and community partner space.

Your donation to Gateway Technical College Connection Center’s food pantry and G-Boutique professional clothing closet will provide essential support for students facing financial hardships or other barriers. With your donations, we can help students with the essentials they need to focus on their education and achieve their dreams..

(Including Year in Review, Enrolment Impact, Governance Structure for HSI NOW & Goals for the Day)

10:00 a.m. -  KEYNOTE + Q & A

11:00 a.m.  - Various Topics (DEI, Institutional Resources for HSI/aspiring/emerging, campus moral, collaborative grant writing)

12:00 p.m. -  LUNCH

1:00p.m. -  Committee Breakout session (Education, Advocacy and HSI NOW Website)

2:00 p.m.  -  Report Out + closing remarks

3:00 p.m.  - Meeting adjourn
